My name is Renee Dubuc. Meet my grandmother, Lucia (above). When she passed in October 2022, we wanted to use a beautiful portrait of her from the 1950s for her obituary photo. The glass in the frame broke long ago, and the photo fell victim to a small child with a blue pen, plus stuck-on dust, scratches, and UV damage. Zoom in on the left photo above to see the damage. I was not about to let that blue pen tarnish Mimi Lucy's legacy.
I cleaned up the photo in Photoshop and handed out glossy 5x7 copies to all my family members at the funeral. They were all touched by the love and care I put into her portrait.
Fast-forward to November 2023: My aunt's mother, Elaine passed. Aunty Cathy knew just who to ask for help with the photos! I scanned 200 photos and restored four severely damaged photos from the 1940s. I digitally repaired the scratches, tears, creases, and water damage and reprinted the photos.
Everyone at her funeral was amazed that I was able to save our precious family photographs so quickly. To this day, the water-damaged photo of Nana Elaine featured below is my one of my proudest restorations.
I was unemployed at this time, plus I enjoyed the labor of love. I decided to capitalize on this skill, and Photo Doctor was born. Reframing life's losses into gains is key to peace, gratitude, and happiness. If you have precious family memories you don't want to lose, reach out to me for a free, 30 minute consultation!
